Friday 22nd May - Whitsundays
Jamilah: Three days ago we took a flight to Hamilton Island where got our 59 ft yacht. After a while we set sail . I though the boat was amazing because I have never been on a boat like this before. My room has a big bed opposite the door and there is lots of different windows all over the place. The bathroom is on the left hand side as you come into my room and most of the room is taken up by the bed. The bathroom is quite small, but it is alright. After we were sailing we had lunch and then we went swimming at Blue Pearl bay. We saw lots of amazing coral and fishes.
On day 2 on our yacht, Daddy went diving in the morning and Mummy and I took the tender to a little beach covered in coral where we went swimming. We had to get out though as there were lots of Ravens trying to pinch our food that we had brought for morning tea. One of them managed to get through two layers of bags and got to one of the muffins . I kept trying to scare them away with my flippers; in the end I ended up throwing them at the Ravens.
On day 3 I watched Pirates of the Caribbean 1 and 2 and I also dived off the back of the boat. I saw lots and lots of Bat Fish which are very big fish that looks like it has been run over by a steam roller. I also Wally who was very big - you could touch him, but I never did as he kept swimming away before I could. We also went snorkelling and saw lots more beautiful coral and fishes and we saw lots and lots of clams there. Clams are sort of a semi-circle shape with two big wriggly lines at the front that can be all sorts of different colours; I saw some green ones, some purple ones and some blue ones. In the evening there was a big thunderstorm and there was lots of lightening and thunder; it was far away, but it was quite scary. In the night I had to go and see Mummy and Daddy because I Kept hearing funny noises and I was really scared because I thought they might be the undead from the Pirates movie!
Today we went snorkelling in the morning and there were a lot more jelly fish than usual; they didn’t sting me because I had a jelly fish suit on that stopped them stinging me. Then Daddy went water skiing and Mummy said that ‘daddy wouldn’t be able to stand up, but he did stand up. Daddy was amazing on the water skis - I never thought he would do it either. Then we went to a beach where the sand was 99.8% silica, but I don’t know what silica is - every time you walked on the sand it squeaked and the sand was very soft and smooth. The most amazing fact I know about the sand is that they used the sand to make the lenses of the Hubble space telescope. Then we saw lots of blue crabs marching across the sand; the little blue crabs when they are digging their holes, they roll up all the sand they are digging out into little balls and throw them out around their hole. Then we came back to the boat and I finished watching Pirates of the Caribbean 3.
