Thursday 7th May - Uluru (Ayres Rock)
Jamilah: Today, Mummy and I stayed in bed whilst Daddy went off to see the sun rise over Ayres Rock. We didn’t go because the sunset wasn’t that impressive. Daddy showed me some pictures of the sunrise and they weren’t that impressive. I’m glad I didn’t go.
In the morning we went for a walk around the base of Ayres Rock. We took the walk to look for some shapes in the Rock from Aboriginal stories. It was a very long walk. It took us 2 1/2 hours to walk around the base. We found all the images from the Aboriginal stories. There was, a Wily wagtail women’s cave (whatever she is?); there was an Emu’s thigh with a spear in it; there was some lizard skin on the rock; some remains of men; a place where woman got their food; a place where woman got chased away; a place where a snake laid her eggs and a place a snake had attacked a man.
Then we went to the Olga’s where Daddy got out of the car and took a picture. I thought that Ayres Rock was better than the Olga’s. Then we went back to our hotel.
